A “Vimana” is actually an ancient mythical flying machine. No, really!

Found on Wiki.

When I was looking for a good name for Captain Howell Davis’s airship, I ran across something truly awesome.   In Sanskrit and Hindi mythology, a “vimana,” or “pushpaka” is a magical flying machine.  They are described as a sort of chariot, usually only used by gods.  Since this is an ancient idea, there are loads of different designs.  Some are build like birds, others like temples, and some are horse drawn.  They are wonderful, fantastic things that (in my opinion) beat the pants off of DaVinci’s flying machines just on pure whimsy points.
